Kobo Farmland Yam Planting Begins β April 4th, 2025 ππ±
Today marks a significant milestone at Kobo Farmland as we officially commence the planting of yam for the 2025 farming season. With a well-prepared farmland, high-quality yam setts, and a structured planting plan, we are set to achieve optimal yield and profitability for this highly sought-after staple crop.
Farm Preparation & Planting Process
β
Land Preparation: Our farmland underwent thorough preparation, including clearing, plowing, and ridging, to ensure that the soil structure supports proper yam tuber development. The ridges are spaced adequately to allow for optimal aeration, root expansion, and moisture retention.
β
Selection of Quality Yam Setts: We have carefully selected disease-free, high-yielding yam setts, ensuring that only the best planting materials are used. This will enhance uniform growth and maximize tuber production per hectare.
β
Planting Technique: Each yam sett is strategically placed in well-spaced ridges, ensuring proper depth and orientation for robust sprouting. The yam mounds are enriched with organic matter and fertilizers to enhance early root development.
β
Staking for Vine Support: As yam is a climbing crop, we are installing stakes that will support the vines, allowing them to grow efficiently while minimizing disease risks.
β
Moisture & Weed Control: With the onset of the rainy season, we are ensuring the soil maintains adequate moisture for germination while implementing weed management strategies to prevent competition for nutrients.

π High Market Demand: Yam remains one of the most profitable staple crops in Nigeria, with strong local and export market demand.
π Premium Quality Production: Kobo Farmland is committed to large-scale, high-quality yam production, leveraging best agricultural practices.
